Movie about a guy who works in an office with all AI workers. He is an older guy who worked in the company for years, and he is close to retirement. His co-workers leave/retire or are laid off and outsourced one by one, and he is the only one left. After a while he notices that the new AI workers are not as "robotic" as he has first assumed. They have ideas, and those ideas may not be so favorable to the rest of the humanity. Title: Office 2.0 First Steps: write an outline, come up with a compelling conflict and resolution, register name.
Digital sticky pad. A hardware pad about 3x3 inches that uses a special stylus to write on. Uses the same tech as in those pads they sell at sharper image, where they create gray marks on a white plastic background as you write, and then you can press a button to clear it. I think it uses e-inc tech. The pad would have BLE connection to the computer / phone. Pressing a button on the pad would copy the current screen to the computer and clear it. First Steps: check if it exists, patent if possible, research necessary display tech. Perhaps a Kickstarter.
A really large scale 3D printer that can roll back and forth on the desk to print imitation swords, guns, or other large scale decorations for movies. Max width of 24in, and max length of how ever long the table is. Table must be really flat, obviously. Use optical mouse sensors to do table location. First Steps: see if available, patent if possible, contact prop makers to see if there is a need, price it out, make prototype if economically feasible.
iPhone case with ultra thin e-inc screen on the back, BLE electronics board and small solar panel for power. Can show pictures and notifications when the phone is turned over. That way you can know at a glance who called you, texted you, etc, without having to even touch the phone. First Steps: test market it by doing a reservation page and promo, check patentability.
Going with the e-inc theme, a programable large size super flat screen that can be hung on the wall in a frame or stuck to the wall with tape. Very light (because e-inc), and uses next to no power. BLE connection to a computer or phone to get screen updates. Use it to show front page of the WSJ, stocks, news of the day, charts, website or server stats, any information that updates infrequently and would be nice to have at a glance. Sell the product, and make an app store for additional products. Screen can have a rechargeable battery, for easy installation, or be installed with AC connection. First Steps: check if it exists, price it out to find out cost of large scale e-inc screens (should be cheep), test market it with 50% margin.
Frozen mashed avocado in tubes. Avocados are expensive, in part, due to the difficulty in timing the ripening process. They have a very limited window in which they can be sold, and a lot are discarded due to over or under ripening. Pack very lightly mashed avocados into tubes, like cookie dough, sell it to people on Keto Diet. First Steps: Check if it exists, make a few prototype batches, try selling it at street markets.
Platform for farmers market retailers to sell other peoples products. Problem: you are a farmer, you have nice avocados or other products, but you don't have the time to go and retail them at street markets. Alternatively, you are a person with no job, but you are reasonably good at sales, and you know of a farmers market nearby, and have the time to sit there and sell stuff. Solution: Make platform to connect these people, charge membership or percentage of processed funds, or monetize in another way. First Steps: find out more about farmers markets, profits from such, and if this is feasible.
Netflix on airplanes. This idea is ideal for Netflix, but could be also a standalone idea for another company. Place solid state drive server on the airplane, tide into plane wide WiFi. Stream movies from the server. If you have Netflix, it could be free, if you don't, you can sign up. For every sign up the airline gets paid a commission, so it's a win-win. First Steps: check if it's done already, send it to Netflix.
FPV WiFi caster. FPV racing is becoming more and more popular. It's even more fun if you can see what the drones are seeing as they race. Couple an FPV receiver (analog) with small form factor computer running a linux server that takes the FPV signal on the fly transcodes it (it's SD, so it's easy on resources to transcode) and live casts it using HLS or similar tech. Make money on selling this hardware to clubs and events. First Steps: see if a solution is available, if not, make a prototype and offer it to events to test and buy if they like it.
A high quality aluminum folding chair for people who want to work on their computer in comfort. It's for people who move a lot, like in the bay area, and work on their laptop a lot. Couple it with a collapsible standing desk. First Steps: research more available products, last I checked nothing exists, pitch to makers of existing chairs.
